The Ministry of Health hold the second nation- wide conference of medicinal materials

On 26/10/2007, the Ministry of Health hold the second nation- wide conference on medicinal materials in Ho Chi Minh city. Over 300 representatives from 64 provinces, cities, central units, sections, universities, and research institutes in the whole country attended the conference.

Under the guidance of Vice Minister of Health - Dr. Cao Minh Quang, the conference has focused on the major contents:

1- Performing the survey of medicinal material areas according to GACP WHO standard aiming at ensuring drug production

2- Sustainable exploration of medicinal material in nature, ensuring the conservation and development of the genetic resources of medicinal plants

3- Enhancing the investment and development of pure acitve substances of extraction manufactures, serving pharmaceutical industry, meeting the demand of acitve substances of 20% of drug production in 2015 and 30% in 2020

4- Performing the survey of herbal drug processing industry and traditional medicine accounting for 30% of drug volume produced in the nation in 2015 and 40% in 2020. Until the year 2010, the herbal drug manufactures need to meet GMP WHO standard.

At the end of the day, Dr. Cao Minh Quang made the conclusion on seven main issues. Vice Minister clearly assigned the work to every units belonging to the Health branch and proposed that it is necessary to have coordination between Health branch and related multi-level governmental organizations.
